My Time is Valuable

As a mother of three children and a wife, my time is valuable. I never thought in a million years that I'd be this busy 19 years ago when I walked down that aisle! Then, I had just graduated from college and had love on my mind. I had aspirations of being the editor of a major metropolitan newspaper and living the high life as a published author, and doing book signings in New York City.

Then, reality hit! While working as a newspaper reporter at a small daily near Dallas, Texas, I became pregnant with my first child. After her birth, all of my priorities suddenly changed! I continued working in newspaper until my second daughter was born, but then I couldn't take the late night meetings and strict deadlines any longer. My family was priority!

Now, with three children, I am using my talents and abilities in other ways. Thank God for the internet and telecommuting!! This is an answer to prayer for all mothers!

I have had my share of low-paying writing jobs, just because I love to write and I miss the fast pace of working at the newspaper. Now, however, I have to begin to choose jobs that fit my needs and time. No longer can I spend time on a $75 job. I have a child going to college next year! My motivation level is high, my kids are getting older and I have more time to devote to my writing. It is time. It is time to put forth the effort to do whatever it takes.

This is where I am starting. I am starting this new adventure with this blog and this contest entry. I am going to start getting up earlier and writing in the wee morning hours before the kids go to school. I am going to take my notebook with me so that when I have to wait somewhere, I can use my time wisely and jot down some thoughts on paper. I will not procrastinate any longer!
